New Author Jesse Klausmeier Stopped By Our Library Today!

Today the 3rd graders in Mrs. Volk's class and I Skyped with the wonderful new author Jesse Klausmeier.

On a recent trip to Fort Collins, Colorado and one of my favorite little bookstores, I discovered Jesse's book Open This Little Book.  I was so excited as I opened it up to find several little books inside....and I couldn't wait to share it with my own children and all of them within the library at Van Meter.

As I went to Jesse's website and watched this book trailer from Chronicle Books, I discovered how very special this book was.
On her website, you can read about Open This Little Book and the wonderful illustrations created by Suzy Lee.
The reviews were also so much fun to read.  What a special treat for every reader.
Jesse told the 3rd graders all about how she first wrote this book when she was 5 years old at her Grandma's house.
She spoke to them about everyone being an author and making sure you save your ideas and words somewhere.
We loved seeing the little books inside of the one she created when she was little....What a sweet idea.  All of the kids thought she was very creative and such an amazing author.
On Friday when the 3rd graders come back for library and technology time, they will finish their "Jesse Posts" on their Van Meter 3rd Grade KidBlogs.  Please make sure you check them out...They will love reading your comments.

Thank you Jesse for Skyping with all of us at Van Meter today.  We can't wait for you to come visit our kindergarteners for LitWorld's World Read Read Aloud Day.  They are even going to create their very own "Little Books" to share with YOU.

You can follow Jesse on Twitter @jesseklausmeier.
